When Microsoft announced their Surface tablet, there were a number of things that we learnt about this tablet, but at the same time, there was one key piece of information which was missing and that was price. As a result of this, analysts have been speculating as to just what sort of price this tablet would command.
Yesterday, a Swedish website began taking orders for the Microsoft tablet and were asking $1,000 for the tablet. This price was way over what analysts were estimating for the tablet. Did this website have some inside information from Microsoft? Actually, it turns out that is not the case. The website Techie Buzz was able to connect with the owners of the Swedish website to get further details on the pricing and it turns out that their price was in no way related to the Microsoft MSRP.
Rather, they had an inflated price with the assumption that customers that pay this amount would receive a rebate once the product was made available and the final price confirmed. They did also confirm that they had no intention of overcharging customers that get in early on the Microsoft tablet. As it stands now, we are back to square one which is the price of the Surface tablet is still unknown.
