Microsoft Project Pink Smartphones

Rumors of a Microsoft smartphone have been around forever, but recently, these rumors have gathered some traction due to new information received by ZDNet and 9to5Mac.

Codenamed Pink, it’s anticipated that the new smartphones are being developed in conjunction with Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 7 operating system and would be available in 2010, presumably just in time for CES. Two versions of the handheld devices will be available. Again, these don’t have official names yet, but are being referred to as “Turtle” and “Pure”.

Both units are to be manufactured by Sharp Electronics and will come with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. “Turtle” would be more of a square or circle shape whereas “Pure” would be your more traditional rectangular phone shape.
