Microsoft SideWinder X4 Gaming Keyboard

Microsoft has taken the curtain off their new gaming keyboard, the SideWinder X4. As a gaming keyboard, this device has the typical features one would come to expect including mode and profile switching, macro support and an adjustable backlighting.

What really sets this Microsoft keyboard apart from some of its competitors such as the popular Razer and Logitech keyboards is the inclusion of advanced technology which “takes anti-ghosting to the next level by allowing gamers to press up to 26 keys at once.”

Ghosting is a situation commonly seen amongst extreme gamers whereby the average keyboard loses track of keystrokes while you are holding down some keys. The new Microsoft keyboard claims to be able to recognize up to 26 simultaneous keystrokes. That’s pretty impressive but how many times do you really need to press 26 keys at one time and wouldn’t you create a macro to resolve this situation if it ever came up?

In any case, the SideWinder X4 keyboard will be available in March for $59.95 and for the touch typists out there, it’s worth noting that this keyboard includes a 2 millisecond response time which is significantly less then the average keyboard that measures in anywhere between 8-10 milliseconds.
