With Windows 7 being available today, Microsoft [MSFT] has been full of surprises. There’s the Burger King promotion taking place in Japan and now in an unexpected move, the Redmond company has revamped it’s online store which will now carry third party software as well as a variety of desktop computers, notebooks and netbooks.
Prior to this, the Microsoft online store only carried Microsoft software (eg Microsoft Windows and MS Office), but now you can find computers from popular vendors such as Lenovo as well as third party software such as Norton 360 and Adobe Photoshop. It’s believed this change is taking place prior to it’s launch of it’s retail stores that will compete head on with Apple stores that are typically seen in local mall outlets.
