
At the TechEd European customer conference being held in Berlin, Germany, Microsoft [NASDAQ:MSFT] officially launched Exchange Server 2010. In a statement released by Stephen Elop, division president, Microsoft, customers that upgrade to the new product can potentially see a 20% efficiency gain due to the new features including the new universal inbox that receives email, voicemail, IM (instant messaging) and text messaging.
Some of the product features of Exchange 2010 include simplified disaster recovery, voice messages being delivered to the inbox in text format, centralized information security for easier email encryption, better disaster recovery processes and stronger malware and spam protection including support for third party software.
In a good move, Exchange Server 2010 will work with Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 as part the “The new Efficiency”. You can read about the full details as well as download trial versions through the Microsoft site.
