Microsoft Cofee Stains Internet

Microsoft Cofee

Microsoft Cofee (Computer Online Forensic Evidence Extractor), a series of computer forensic and auditing tools that the Redmond based company designed for law enforcement agencies, has leaked onto the internet. The software had been uploaded by a new torrent user at the private tracker What.cd. When the admins got wind of this, they took the unusual step of removing the file, which was probably in their best interest to do so.

Cofee is only about 15MB in size, small enough to fit on a USB key. The application is so easy to use that even a police officer with minimal computer knowledge could be trained in under 10 minutes to use Cofee in a forensic investigation.

The software application is said to recognize up to 150 commands and fully supports Windows XP. Although there is some Windows Vista support included, Microsoft had plans to release a new software version next year that would have full Vista support.
