Traditional cat flaps act simply as a screen door through which any small animal can enter. The Pet Porte microchip cat flap acts as a barrier, providing your your cat with the luxury of entering and leaving the house through the cat flap, but at the same time preventing other animals from entering.
This system works based upon a microchip that is placed within your cat. If the sensor on the flap recognizes the microchip on the incoming cat, it allows access. Those without a chip and those with a non-recognized chip are denied access.
The system has been tested and confirmed functional with a number of different microchips that are on the market including Bayer Tracer, Identichip and Pet ID.
