Hospital acquired infections are a serious public health issue for patients, visitors and those employed in the industry.

Medigenic Keyboard - Medical Keyboard

To that effect, hospitals have a number of protective measures in place to reduce the spread of person to person as well as object to person infections.

A dirty keyboard is a common source of bacteria and viruses and many studies have shown that the amount of filth within the keyboard can equal that of a toilet seat. The Medigenic Keyboard tries to address this problem by redesigning the standard keyboard. This keyboard does away with the raised keys and as a result, the crevices between them in which food and other debris collect.

In addition, the keyboard is easy to clean, requiring just a wipe down using hospital-grade disinfectants. To make it even simpler, the keyboard also comes with an indicator light that will notify you when the keyboard is ready to be cleaned again.

In terms of typing speed, apparently, touch typists are able to easily transition to this flat keyboard and will see no change in their current typing speed. To make this transition even easier, this keyboard comes with faux 3D key graphics.

The Medigenic keyboard retails for about $140.
