Lily Sussman, an American tourist was traveling abroad to the holy land, Jerusalem, Israel, when a couple of overzealous border guards stopped her to question her about her visit. It seems security didn’t really like the answers they received as they confiscated Sussman’s MacBook, only to return it a short while later with three bullet holes in it.
Needless to say, the MacBook was destroyed, but the hard drive survived as it didn’t take a direct hit. I guess you can call that one rugged hard drive, having survived the shock of the bullets going through the case. I’m not sure if Lily did regular data backups prior to this event, but something makes me thing that a regular data backup process may be in order after this event.
Sussman mentioned that Israeli officials have provided her with contact information of government officials that will provide her with monetary compensation for her destroyed Apple gear.
