Logitech has added a new wireless offering to its lineup that makes a pretty interesting claim of an industry first three year battery life using just four AA batteries. Called the MK710, this desktop set consists of a wireless keyboard, mouse and a Unifying receiver that accepts input from up to 6 Logitech devices, freeing up valuable USB ports in the process.
The three year up-time claim for the keyboard comes by way of an estimate whereby 2 million keystrokes are performed annually in a standard office environment. No details on how the up-time was determined for the mouse, although Logitech does state that battery life will vary based upon use.
Standard on the new keyboard include Incurve keys with a concave design to give a more natural typing feel. There’s also a cushioned palm rest to reduce wrist strain and an LCD display that provide a status for scroll lock, cap lock, num lock and the remaining battery life.
The Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710 has been introduced to offer a “comfortable and hassle-free laptop experience.” Consumers in Europe will be the first to see the new combination when it launches later this month, while those in the US will gain access to these Logitech devices in April 2010 when it begins retailing for $99.99 US.
