
Managing your monthly budget, controlling expenses and living within your means is a family goal that many set. There are many ways to track income and expenses and there are quite a few financial software applications designed to cater to exactly this need. Although these do work well, the challenge is inputting your financial information religiously and on a regular basis, if not daily.
The Live Checking Card tracks your credit card expenses at the moment of purchase. This is a conceptual design that would work off of e-ink technology which would display the total expenses incurred on the card. To keep an accurate tally, it would even use an RFID to match up bank account transactions.
This is a great design idea and recipient of the 2009 Red Dot award. I’m sure there are many families out there that would probably benefit from it. It is so easy to spend money using plastic and not realize that you have overspent until a month later when you receive your credit card bill. At that point, it can be a challenge to pay down the credit card and hence, many carry a balance with high interest charges.
