If you’re not familiar with the name Linus Torvalds, that’s ok, he’s the person who created the Linux kernel which forms the cornerstone of the Android operating system that runs the Google Nexus One.
On his personal blog, Torvalds mentions his dislike for mobile phones, mostly because to him, they are a nuisance that would just ring at the most inappropriate time such as while reading, working or doing whatever. Although he did have a dislike for cellphones, he did have the original Google G1 which he used to play games such as Solitaire and Galaga on long flights.
It turns out that Torvalds has strong feelings for the Google Nexus One smartphone, stating that the “Nexus One is a winner”. He bought the Google phone online once it was confirmed that pinch to zoom was enabled. The Nexus One now goes with him on his road trips with Google navigation functioning as his in-car GPS unit.
Recently, it was announced that Google was struggling with Nexus One sales, so an unsolicited celebrity endorsement such as this couldn’t have come at a better time.
