We’ve got confirmation that Verizon Wireless in the United States will be launching the LG Revolution, a 4G handset today. The Android phone, which can be considered a middle of the line smartphone will retail for $249.99 with a two year service plan.
The LG phone first came to light at the Consumer Electronics Show that took place in Las Vegas around the middle of January. However, its showing at CES was just enough to wet our appetite as it was not until the Mobile World Congress when we got a complete picture of the new LG offering. To begin with, the Revolution features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. It’s touchscreen display which measures 4.3-inches wide supports WVGA and a pixel resolution of 480×800. The device also comes with WiFi hotspot service for 8 wireless devices, Dolby Mobile and a 5MP digital camera that can capture 720p high definition video and it also includes an LED flash and autofocus.
Of course, when we speak about Android phones, the question that comes to mind for most is what version of Android is installed? Interestingly enough, this device does not include Gingerbread, but rather Froyo. There was a time just recently when Froyo on a handset was something to get hyped up about but with Gingerbread now available, oh how things have changed.
