LG Electronics has confirmed the launch of their latest Android phones, the Android 2.2 (Froyo) LG Optimus Chic and LG Optimus One. Both of these mobile phones have been developed to try and expand LG’s mobile business.
The devices were announced in an earlier online press conference that LG hosted from Seoul, Korea and during the announcement, it was confirmed that these smartphones have been designed to make extensive use of Google Mobile Services upon launch. LG expects the phones to be available in more then 90 countries around the world and they will be supported on 120 different mobile networks. Europe will be amongst the first to have access to the phones, some time around November.
As these phones have been developed with the first time phone buyer in mind, they come with the most current version of the Google OS, at least until Gingerbread is available, and they also feature a simple user interface. The LG Optimus One will also have the LG App Advisor app installed on the phone which will advise mobile users on a biweekly basis on what are the top 10 apps available in the Android market.
Both the LG Optimus One and Optimus Chic will utilize a 500MHz CPU and include a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 320×480 HGVA graphics. Where the phones differ is in their onboard cameras with the Optimus Chic having the higher resolution 5MP camera while the Optimus One will include a lower resolution 3MP camera.
