LG Launches Privacy Protection LCD Displays for Notebooks

Laptops offer convenience through mobility, but with that convenience, often, privacy is lost. You may find yourself at times working in public areas where you are sharing a table or you may even be just resting the notebook on your lap while you work. With each of these scenarios, it only takes an inquisitive person sitting next to you to quickly glance at your work.

Up until now, to counter these people, you could get a privacy screen, but many times these had challenges of there own. LG Display has introduced a 14.1″ LCD panel for notebooks that have a privacy screen built into them. Along with this, the extent of the privacy can be controlled by the person using the laptop.

The LCD panel will offer a 175 degree viewing angle but this can be adjusted down to just a 60 degree viewing angle through the Viewing-angle Image Control Display (VIC) technology. By reducing the angle to 60 degrees, you can effectively prevent people next to you from seeing your screen.

Another plus of the new panels is that there may be times when you will be showing a presentation on your laptop. In the past, you would need to remove the privacy screen and then then reattach it once you were done. Although this wasn’t a huge inconvenience, it is nice to know that with the new LG displays, this has now become a thing of the past as the viewing angle can easily be changed by the operator.
