Ultra Thin LG Display

It’s only been seven months since LG Display (LGD) came out with 42-inch and 47-inch LCD TV’s that measured an incredible 5.9mm thick — that’s less than a quarter-inch. At the time, they were the thinnest LCD TV’s at the time. Now, LGD is out to outdo itself with an even thinner offering for next year — this time, less than half as thick as their May 2009 offerings!

That’s right — LGD is out to release a 42-inch LCD TV that measures a mere 2.6mm — right about the thickness of a large coin. I feel I should be careful lugging this around — despite weighing only 4kg, making it ideal for wall-mounted setups, I wouldn’t want to fold it by mistake.

Not really, I’m sure it’ll be fine. In fact, LGD is so sure about their newest baby that they’re going to showcase it in a private room in the Bellagio when the Consumer Eletronics Show 2010 (CES 2010) comes to Las Vegas.

If you’re thinking about getting one for yourself, make sure you think it through. Getting a TV is like getting in the wrong relationship and the wrong display is going to give you headaches on most nights!
