LG Android Tablet Available Before 2011

South Korean based LG Electronics announced their plans this morning to bring a new Android tablet to the market before the end of 2010. This of course isn’t surprising considering that one of their largest rivals, Samsung has plans of launching their own S-Pad tablet.

LG offered few details of their new product other then to say that it will be “different” from other Android tablets currently available. Considering the number of big name manufacturers (Asus, Acer, Dell, RIM) looking to launch their own tablets soon, LG will need to offer a differentiated product to gain some traction. As to why LG selected Android as their operating system of choice has to come down to cost and flexibility. Android is a free open source OS and plays nicely with a variety of different hardware configurations.

This will now be the second tablet in LG’s arsenal, the first being the UX10 tablet that is designed upon the Windows 7 Home Premium platform and was revealed at the Computex technology show that took place in Taipei.
