Lenovo has added a new notebook to its lineup in the ThinkPad X201. The X201 sports the Intel i5 and i7 processors as well as includes a number of additional features worth highlighting.

The X201 comes with a 12-inch WXGA LED display, a trackpad as well as a 2MP digital camera that features new improvements that allow it to work much better in low light conditions. Additionally, the X201 has improved start up and shutdown times with boot up requiring about 20 seconds and shutdown taking 5 seconds. This works out to about a 50% improvement over earlier models.

The hardware specifications on the new Lenovo ThinkPad can also be optionally configured to meet the needs of a laptop user. Some of the options available include a hard drive up to 500GB in size, RAM upgrades to 8GB and a 9-cell battery that offers up to 11 hours of untethered access before needing a recharge. With USB 3.0 becoming more popular, it would have been nice to have seen this technology included in the laptop, but in lieu of this, Lenovo has gone with 3 USB 2.0.

Expect to see the Lenovo ThinkPad X201 retail next month for about $1200 and for an additional $400, a base model X201s can also be had.
