A pair of good zoom binoculars may be the more popular gadget for viewing distant objects but Leica has come out with their Monovid Monocular. The Leica product measures 3.9-inches long, is fog proof and can be submerged up to a depth of 16.5 feet and still function. By being waterproof, the monocular may be of particular interest of those involved in water sports such as snorkeling or swimming.
The Leica monocular also comes with an 8x zoom and has the ability of viewing objects as close as 9.8-inches by using a special lens attachment. The Leica Monovid Monocular is an expensive toy, retailing for $500 so unless you’re a seafaring pirate in need of an upgraded monocular or someone that has some really cool things to look at, this device may not be for everyone.
