For probably millions of people around the world, Donkey Kong is an icon when it comes to video games. It was a classic in the arcades, with kids plunking down quarters trying to help Mario save Pauline from the ape. After a night of Donkey Kong, how could anyone forget the memorable tune from the game, which would run through your mind for the next hour.
It’s only fitting that people try and pay homage to such an arcade classic. I had a good laugh when I read about Dan Kressin, and his Lego Donkey Kong which was created after gentle persuasion from his wife.
Lego Donkey Kong certainly does the original game justice with Mario and Pauline figurines, rolling barrels, ladders and ramps. It even has a Donkey Kong that throws barrels, mind you, if you look close enough, you’ll note that Donkey Kong is actually a troll from a new castle line.
My hats off to the designer of Lego Donkey Kong for all his efforts in creating Lego Donkey Kong. Be sure to see the youtube video below to see the working model.
