According to MCV, a well respected British trade site, the latest rumor is that Project Natal, Microsoft’s [MSFT] next generation gaming console will launch in November 2010, about one year from now.
The information comes from insiders that had details of a recent meeting held between Microsoft and third party developers. According to the source, the 2010 launch will be global in nature with Natal being sold both as standalone as well as in 360 bundles. The game units will retail for about $50-$80 and will include about 14 video games. Apparently, price was a big factor in this meeting with Microsoft expressing their interest in having a low price that would result in impulse buying.
We’ll have to wait until we get an official Microsoft announcement, but if they manage to keep these price points, I think there will be a lot of people buying Natal as Christmas gifts next year.
