Google has Google+ and the early numbers show that many Googlers are climbing on board to sign up for this service. Because of this, would it a surprise to anyone that Microsoft is investing time and money in a social networking project of their very own?
In an apparent leak on Soci.com, we got our first small glimpse into the upcoming plans for the Redmond company. Unfortunately, the splash page has been removed with Microsoft now replacing it with a more generic page that simply says that this is an internal design project that was made live in error.
We can of course take Microsoft at face value and believe that this is just an internal design project, but I think most people will quickly realize that the company needs to do something in order to remain on a somewhat equal footing with Google. Over time, it’s very likely that we will see Soci.com change and adapt to become something like a Google+ clone. One thing that we wonder about is the name. Will Microsoft stick with the Tulalip name or is this just a code name for this project for now with a new name being unveiled during the official launch?
