Green computing will be the direction of future computing so as to reduce the carbon footprint of workstations. There are a number of creative suggestions that are being brought to the table which are being explored.
Designer David Veldkamp has come up with the LawnPc which involves having a plot of grass near your workstation. It actually isn’t real grass that you need to water, but rather is a synthetic grass made out of cotton fibers that have solar cells embedded within them.
A plot of grass will contain hundreds of individual strands and collectively, they will be able to generate up to 60 watts of power per hour, which should be enough to meet the energy needs of a pc.

One of the features that David Veldkamp incorporated into his design was the entire unit will be wireless, which affords you the opportunity to move your little plot of lawn towards a nearby window.
