The trend these days is more storage space with no cables. If this sounds like something that might interest you, then LaCie has a new product available called the Wireless Space, an external hard disk drive that can connect into your home network by means of a wireless connection.
The LaCie drives are available in two drive sizes. The smaller drive is 1TB in space and sells for $230 and the larger 2TB HD will cost $350. Aside from being an external drive that can be used to share multimedia content over a WiFi network, the LaCie drive also has an upstream Gigabit port and a pair of USB 2.0 data ports. These can be used to establish external connections with wired devices that you may have at home like a personal printer.
The LaCie Wireless Space drive is compatible with UPnP/DNLNA and for Mac users, there is also support for Time Machine so that you can schedule automated data backups.
