LaCie has released their new portable DVD+/-RW Drive. Designed by Sam Hecht, this computer accessory is small enough to fit in a laptop bag as it weighs under a pound and is only about 1-inch in height.
The portable drive is USB powered, thus eliminating the need for an external power source. Compatible with both MAC and PC, the external drive would be a nice addition for an old computer that lacks a burner. The LaCie drive is capable of burning DVDs at 8X, CDs at 4x and includes Toast 9 Basic burning software for MAC and Creator Suite 10 with LightScribe for Windows.
The Mac version of the burner retails for $120 while the Windows version is a bit cheaper at $90.
