Kobo e-Reader App For Android Devices

Borders, the maker of the Kobo e-book reader have released the Kobo app for devices powered by the open source Google Android OS.

Like the iPhone app and the other ports that are available, the Android app will include a software bookmark feature that will allow the reader to maintain his page within the book even if he changes devices. This is achieved using a unique login ID.

The Kobo e-book app will also have a search function that will allow users to find books by a variety of methods including book title, author or subject keyword. Users can also scan for books that are on such prestigious lists as the NYT Bestsellers or Ophra’s Picks. The Android app is free to download from the Android market but the electronic books themselves may come with a price tag. The Kobo Android smartphone port now complements other ports that currently exist for the Apple iPhone, RIM Blackberry and the Palm Pre.
