With over 5 million Twitter followers Justin Bieber is one of the most popular users on Twitter and discussions about him alone on the microblogging site uses 3% of Twitter’s resources at any given time. Recently, a Twitter employee who was speaking with Dustin Curtis revealed that because of the high server usage that Bieber generates, Twitter has to dedicate “racks of servers” just to keep up with the demand.
According to Dustin, this was not a joke and could be attributed to the fact that Justin Bieber seems to be a regular trending topic. Just have a look at how many tweets and searches result because of someone tries to game the system by saying that Justin Bieber is dead.
As to be expected, Bieber is not alone in his ability to drive high Twitter traffic as there are a number of other A-list celebrities that require their own dedicated servers to handle the demand.
