JooJoo Tablet Shipping Delayed

JooJoo Tablet Shipping Delayed

You may remember the JooJoo tablet pc. At one time, it was known as the Crunchpad, the darling of Michael Arrington, founder and co-editor of TechCrunch. As the Crunchpad, this tablet PC received considerable media attention as well as showed promise to change tablet computing. However, over time a falling out between Arrington and his partners Fusion Garage resulted in Arrington being removed from the project and the Crunchpad being renamed the JooJoo tablet.

Since then, there has been litigation and more threats of litigation. Things haven’t gone overly well for Fusion Garage and today, we hear that those that had pre-ordered the JooJoo back in December 2009 with the promise of a February delivery date will now have to wait until at least March 25th, that is assuming there are no further delays.

According to Fusion Garage, the reason for the delays is “due to a manufacturing delay” and “the company is now forecasting that JooJoo will be sent to consumers on March 25.”

This means that it has been at least four months now since it was officially released. By pushing into the March time frame, the JooJoo tablet will now compete directly with the Apple iPad which has an expected release date of late March/early April and with the somewhat tarnished name of Fusion Garage, the question begs to be asked if consumers would stay way from the JooJoo and turn towards the iPad.

Fusion Garage does recognize the customer dissatisfaction that is out there at this time and for what its worth, they will be offering a free accessory device to those that had pre-ordered the tablet.
