If Baywatch were to ever start up again, would it have the same ratings today as it did back then if the show replaced the majority of bikini clad lifeguards with Mantra, the automated life saving system. Mantra sounds like a new aquatic superhero, but is actually the design concept of Adam Scott.

The typical scenario on the beach today consists of lifeguards manning their stations, keeping an ever watchful eye over the water to look for people needing assistance. When one such scenario occurs, the lifeguard springs into action, swimming out to rescue the swimmer. All this of course takes valuable time.

Mantra is designed to reduce the time required to save a swimmer as it will already be out patrolling the water and can reach greater speeds then a lifeguard. When a swimmer is injured, Mantra will travel to the swimmer and swoop under him, pickup the swimmer on Mantra’s back and return to shore. The back of Mantra will have a detachable stretcher which can then be loaded into an ambulance if the swimmer needs further medical assistance.
