Rumor has it that the secret Apple touchscreen tablet that was first reported back in March may actually have an official launch date.
According to the China Times, Apple is set to release a new large screen touchscreen tablet this October.
The news article continues that the touchscreen display will be 9.7-inches diagonal and designed by Wintek Corporation. The screen size considered by Apple does deviate from the industry standard of 10.1 or 10.2 inches in diagonal length.
The inclusion of touchscreen technology in their new tablet pc (or netbook) ensures this will not be a cheap laptop. Some analysts expect the retail price to be around $800 US, meaning it will not be in direct competition with the low end netbooks available through either Acer or Asus Computers.
