When the new 32/64GB iPod touch came out, Apple made bold claims that the handheld device was 50% faster then earlier models. Of course, when comments like this stated, they need to be validated and so they were by Macworld.
For the most part, the benchmarks were accurate. Moving from old to new iPod, boot-up time was reduced from 31 seconds to 19 seconds, web page load times were reduced from 34 seconds to 15 seconds and most games tested also loaded 33% to 50% faster.
Overall, the results were positive and Macworld was satisfied with the claim stating “the new iPod touch feels much faster at any task you throw at it: applications launch (and quit) faster, Web pages load more quickly, processor-intensive games and programs perform better-you name it.”
