We have a new entry into the e-book reader market, this time by Interpark, a Korean online auction site and shopping mall. The Interpark 3G book reader is known as Biscuit, a device that does have some visual similarities to one of the more popular book readers on the market today, the Amazon Kindle.
In terms of form factor, the Biscuit comes with a prominent keyboard located at the base of the device which just so happens to also be where the navigational buttons are as well, a shift from the edge position typically seen with other readers.
The Biscuit comes with 3G wireless connectivity that can be used to access the online bookstore through which additional reading material in the form of books and magazines can be downloaded, though at the time, the selection is limited to 25,000 titles, significantly less then what is seen with Amazon’s offering. Screen size on the device is 6-inches with pixel resolution set at 600×800. The e-ink display supports 8 levels of grayscale and includes 4GB of internal memory.
Finally, battery life on the Biscuit is rated for 9,000 page turns and the device includes support for the major file formats including epub, Adobe PDF, MS office (doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx), hwp, TXT, image (bmp, jpg, png, gif) and MP3.
The unit is already available in Korea at a purchase price of $350.
