Intel Atom CE4100

At IDF, Intel showed off their SoC (System-on-Chip) media processor called the Intel Atom CE4100. The new Intel processor has been designed to revolutionize home entertainment equipment by bringing internet content and services to digital televisions, DVD players and cable TV boxes.

Codenamed Sodaville, the CE4100 is the first 45nm CE SoC to use Intel architecture. The new processor chip is capable of supporting both broadcast and internet applications on a single chip and has enough processing power to bring 3D multimedia content into the home environment.

It’s not clear as to when we will see the first devices powered by the new CE4100 processor, but Intel has promised to deliver some interesting demonstrations from its hardware partners.
