The run up to the holiday season was to result in major announcements being made by Apple, Microsoft and Google, each of which were holding their own events to showcase new product releases. Apple has finished their launch which saw the release of a couple of new products, the highlight of which was the iPad Mini.
Monday, October 29th was Google’s turn but unfortunately for Android fans, their New York event has now been cancelled. The reason for this is Hurricane Sandy which is now making its way up the eastern seaboard. Hurricane Sandy is a category 1 hurricane, but what makes it unique is that there is the possibility that it could combine with other weather systems in that region, thereby resulting in it becoming a “Frankenstorm”.
So far, there are no new dates that have been established for the Google event, but the search engine giant did state in their email that they will keep us updated when they know more. Although there have been many rumours that have highlighted what we can expect at the Google event, there is also the chance that Google could surprise us with something new such as how Apple did with their next generation iPad. For now though, we’ll have to wait for the next event date, but as a recap of the rumours, the Google event is said to introduce the arrival of Android 4.2 or Key Lime Pie and we are expected to see a 10-inch Nexus 10 tablet amongst other devices.
