Shortly after the Windows Phone Summit that took place in June, we learnt that the hardware manufacturer HTC was looking to come out with a couple of Windows Phone 8 devices that would launch before this year was out.
In total, three new HTC phones were expected to come on the market, but aside from that, little else was known abut HTC’s plans. We are now hearing through the blog WPDang that these handsets will be officially announced in the third week of September. If this information turns out to be accurate, it would mean that the HTC phones will become official after Microsoft and their hardware partner Nokia announce the first Windows Phone 8 handsets on September 5th at Nokia World.
The WPDang rumours regarding the HTC phones indicate that the specific date for the announcement is still not clear, but that this announcement will be made in a major global city, with London and New York being the prime candidates. Additionally, after the September HTC announcement, we can expect the Accord and Rio to begin shipping in the following month and subsequently, the Zenith will be available in Q4.
With the launch of Windows Phone 8 being imminent, we can expect manufacturer announcements to come fast and furious. Along with HTC, we did mention that Nokia will also have some new phones and in this regards, WPDang has suggested that two handsets are in the works. These will be the Lumia 910 and the Lumia 920.
