Do you even remember the HTC Merge? It was the HTC phone of 2010 that was the focus of multiple rumors but ultimately, this handset never saw the light of day. In fact, over time, the Merge dropped off the radar screen and it was believed that HTC engineers had pulled this product back in so as to be able to add LTE support.
Guess what, the Merge is back. According to an HTC press release, we can confirm that the HTC Merge is slider phone with a QWERTY keyboard. Powered by the Google Android 2.2 operating system, this will be the first CDMA world Android phone for the company and it will have a 3.8-inch screen display and a 5MP rear facing camera, but guess what, no mention of LTE support which was the reason the handset was allegedly pulled in the first place.
The phone will go on sale in Spring 2011 and regarding the LTE support, it is highly possible that they elected not to highlight this in the press release so that they can make a bigger splash when the launch comes for some carriers (IE Verizon).
