HTC Legend Smartphone Set For March Launch

KPN, a European wireless carrier may have let the cat out of the bag by inadvertently posting digital images, hardware specifications and an availability date of March 2010 on their website. The information about the smartphone powered by the Google Android operating system was quickly taken down but it seems now that it is all but a certainty that we should be seeing this mobile phone in the coming weeks.

Along with the Android OS, the HTC Legend sports a 3.2-inch HVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a 600 Mhz processor, 512MB on board ROM, 256MB RAM with a microSD memory card slot offering optional RAM upgrades as required. Additionally, you’ll see a 5 megapixel digital camera, AGPS, WiFi b/g (no n), and Bluetooth 2.1 technology. To round out the hardware specifications on this smartphone are a 1300 mAh battery, 3.5mm headphone jack and full access to the Google suite of products including Google Maps, Gmail and the Google Marketplace which boasts some 20,000 applications strong.

The only thing that KPN seems to have not leaked out was a price tag for the new phone, but with this being the eve of the Mobile World Congress in Spain, there’s a good chance we may hear even more about this device, including pricing and possible other mobile carriers that will pick it up.
