It’s been only about two months since Bell Mobility began carrying the HTC Legend and now the Canadian mobile carrier has already given the HTC handset an “end of life” status. The reason for dropping the HTC Legend can be found in a leaked internal document which states:
due to ongoing supply constraints from the manufacturer, the HTC Legend for Bell is effective immediately being discontinued”. Bell employees are advised to redirect customers wishing to purchase the HTC Legend to their “terrific line-up of Android smartphones
So, this appears to be a done deal unless this leak causes a ripple effect with Bell executives. If you just happen to be at a local Bell outlet, inquire about the HTC Legend and see what Android phones they are now recommending, perhaps it will be the Samsung Wave? Although this hasn’t been clarified yet, I would suspect that Bell will still offer software updates for the HTC Legend, at least for the foreseeable future as this would be just good customer service.
Those that are interested in buying an HTC Legend within Canada can still do so through Virgin Mobile, but expect to pay a premium as Virgin has just raised the price of this phone by $20 to $99.99 with a 3-year contract.
