MD Quinton Leigh has confirmed that HTC has already begun development of their own tablet computer, one that will be powered by the Google Android operating system. Assuming that everything goes according to plan, we should expect to see the first HTC tablet roll off the assembly line in the middle of 2011.

In addition to sporting the Android OS, the HTC tablet will come with 1080p HD video recording, 5.1 Dolby surround sound and of course a touchscreen display. If HTC is able to deliver on the goods, this does look to be an impressive tablet, one that could rival the Apple iPad.

Should pricing for the two tablets be comparable, would you go for an Apple iPad or an HTC tablet?
