The launching of the Apple iPad was enough to make 2010 the year of tablet computing, and already other companies are scrambling to put their own offerings into the market. HP (NYSE:HP) is no different, and is looking to steal the spotlight with the sleek new EliteBook 2470p tablet-laptop.
The EliteBook 2470p’s form factor isn’t new — we’ve already seen laptops with detachable lids, which function as a separate tablet PC. But the sleek stainless steel finish and sturdy magnesium chassis makes the EliteBook a cut above the rest.
The EliteBook is geared towards business-minded customers, and it has the specs to be a real player in that niche. It runs on Intel’s new Core i5 or Core i7 processors, and has the military-grade strength to resist high temperatures, altitude, vibration, and dust. DriveGuard technology also provides additional protection for the hardware.
The EliteBook also comes with a choice between Windows 7 Professional, Windows Vista Business, FreeDOS, and Windows XP Tablet Edition. If you’re interested in this little baby, be prepared to meet the $1,599 price tag before the month ends.
