HP Smartphone Is Still Many Years Away

Hewlett Packard has come under some bad times and this has certainly been reflected in their stock prices. In fact, one analyst went on the record to say that HP stock is worthless, that the company’s balance financials were a complete “mess” and that they were lucky the stock didn’t have a zero dollar valuation.

HP needs to get their house in order as well as improve upon their revenue streams. The company which has been known for their PC and printer technology can start by streamlining some of their products, or alternatively, they can introduce new products into the fold. Smartphones is one area that the company has its eyes squarely set on and though they have moved away from the pre-smartphones as well as webOS, they have not given up the idea of introducing a new smartphone. In fact, HP wants to get into this line of business again but the question begs to be asked, just when can we see an HP smartphone? HP’s Meg Whitman did say that there is no chance of a smartphone in 2013 which means that the earliest that we would see one of these devices is in 2014 and that is at the very earliest. Whitman went on to say that they must establish themselves within the smartphone niche within five years or risk being left behind. Could that mean that the window for an HP smartphone is somewhere between 2014 and 2017. Yikes.
