Despite its flaws, the Apple iPad still looks to lead the tablet market in exactly the same way the iPhone dictates things in the smartphone market today. But this time, Apple’s competitors have had time to prepare — and HP is the next to step up to Apple’s threat with its new tablet, the HP Slate.
The irony in the name is likely strategic — many Apple fanboys were expecting the iPad to be named the “iSlate,” after all, and were probably turned off by the iPad’s underwhelming name and features. HP and Microsoft are likely out to snag the fans who, almost a month after the iPad’s release, are still on the fence about getting one for themselves.
The HP Slate does have quite a bit to offer — unlike the iPad, it offers all the features of its mother OS, which happens to be the genially-received Windows 7. In traditional Microsoft-Vs-Apple fashion, the HP Slate may not be as sleek and glossy as the iPad, but offers more functionality and the possibility of multitasking.
The best thing about the HP Slate? HP has been hinting that it’s going to beat the iPad’s $630 price tag, even when the Slate offers the additional cellular connection that users will definitely appreciate. The game is on!

The iSlate is a different device that Apple hasn’t release yet, it was not the iPad. Apple would not allow HP to out do them like that. HP Slate is much better then the iPad because it has a full OS, but like the iSlate it is no where near ready to be released, HP rush the announcement for a device that is still concept and Apple stayed quiet on theirs like they aways do.
