At the end of April, we got confirmation that HP was the successful suitor for Palm, a tech company that was seeing a trend of declining share prices and market share. During one of the conference calls to announce the purchase of Palm, Brian Humphries, an executive with HP made it a point to renew HP’s relationship with Microsoft by saying “We intend to continue to be a strategic partner for Microsoft. They’re a huge piece of our business today, and will continue to be so.”
We know that Microsoft plays a big role with many hardware vendors, but at the time that Humphries made this comment, it was widely speculated that HP and Microsoft would jointly work towards the development of a Windows Phone 7 device. It now seems that this may not be the case. In a recent interview with CNBC, Todd Bradley advised that HP has no plans of making either Android or Windows Phone 7 devices and that their smartphones will “exclusively use” webOS.
