As hinted to earlier, Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) has unveiled their web-connected and cloud-aware printer systems, a type of cloud computing printing system whereby PC users can save files remotely, but can print them locally, regardless of where they are in the world.
Essentially, each printer is configured with an email address that is specific and unique for the printer. Knowing these email addresses, users can use any Internet enabled device such as a Blackberry, iPad or the newly announced iPhone 4G to send an email to the specific email address to have your document printed.
Users will also have the option of enabling scheduled print jobs using select news sources or activities such as MSNBC news, Crayola coloring pages, KoL.com, MapQuest, Facebook and Disney activities for kids. The HP technology is also expected to integrate with Google Docs and Box.net down the road.
Currently, four printers will support this feature. These printers are the HP Photosmart Premium e-AIO ($199), HP Photosmart Plus e-AIO ($149), HP Photosmart e-AIO ($99) and the HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-AIO ($299).
