Japanese new homebuilder Yamane-Mokuzai has been contracted to begin construction on a 221 sq meter custom single family home in Higashi Hiroshima.

LED Home Lighting Reduces Energy Use

What makes this a unique home design is that the new home owners have requested that the home contain only LED lighting fixtures.

By using only LED Lighting, Yamane-Mokuzai estimates that the new home owners will save up to 80% in household energy use over traditional lighting and that over a 10 year period, the initial capital investment will be fully recouped via the home energy savings. One other interesting note about this new home design is that inclusion of Sharp’s Plasmacluster Ion technology throughout the home which is useful in killing bacteria and viruses, thus reducing the amount of airborne contaminants and person to person infections.
