“Hang It On” Hard Drive Enclosure

The Hang It On hard drive enclosure is a drive enclosure that allows you to hang a 2.5″ hard drive off of the back of the LCD screen of a laptop. By doing so, you’re able to add extra storage capacity to what the internal hard drive currently has and the design will allow you to work in areas where you may have limited desk space.

Challenges that may occur with this concept design are what would happen if the hard drive fell especially if it’s not SSD, and what about the heat dissipated from the hard drive that is brush up against the laptop?

The Hang It On enclosure is the design concept of Sangho Jin and although some may find this design to be of benefit, I can’t see this design having mass appeal.

I’ve been Googling all over for this very idea! – a way to attach my external hard drive to my laptop lid. Yeah, I could use stick on velcro, but this hook idea is MUCH better in that it won’t make the lid gummy.
Unfortunately, I can’t find this item for SALE anywhere.
Mike, do you know of anything similar?
(& btw, I do NOT see this idea as NOT having “mass appeal” – god knows there are plenty of less-useful items for sale out there – in my Googling, I’ve found SEVERAL “USB fragrance diffusers” to plug into your laptop, for example!)

Hi Marilyn,

I haven’t come across a commercially available product that offers the same functionality as this design which was developed as a potential concept.
