OS X Hack

When Apple announced Mac OS X 10.6.2, one of the notable changes was the loss of Intel Atom processor support. This was a blow to the Hackintosh community that typically ran Snow Leopard on cheap netbooks. What this meant was in order to continue to use OS X on a netbook, the Hackintosh community would have to remain at OS X 10.6.1 or wait for a fix before upgrading the OS.

It appears that a Russian hacker group called “teateam” have restored functionality by creating a kernel patch, just days after the release of the Apple update. Many in the community have had success with the patch but it should be noted that this patch is not a simple “point and click” apply. Users will need to be familiar with terminal in order to replace the kernel of the operating system.
