Google’s Standard Logo Replaced With Bouncing Balls

Users that went to the Google homepage today to perform a search were greeted with a new animated Google logo, this time, made up of bouncing colored balls. What exactly was this supposed to represent remains a mystery.

The Google logo was animated so that if you placed your mouse pointer close to one of the colored spheres, there was interactivity. As the pointer got closer to the balls, they would break apart before returning to their original state to reform the Google logo.

Google has traditionally replaced their logo to mark major anniversaries, events and even artists, scientists and others that have made a significant contribution to society. The difference with past logo changes compared to this one is past logos would hyperlink to a search page that would provide search results on the event that Google is recognizing. Today, there was no click through which does make this somewhat different.
