Since Google Wave was announced, it has been a beta service for which you needed an invitation to the party in order to use it. At the Google I/O 2010, Google has announced that this is no longer the case.
Google Wave is now open to everyone that would like to sign up for this free service. Along with this news, Google has also indicated that the Wave will also be available to organizations that use the Google apps.
Finally, Google has also confirmed that the source code that powers Wave will be made available to developers that are interested in customizing or integrating Wave with their own suite of products.
