We know Apple [APPL] can be a little picky when it comes to approving applications for inclusion in their app store. Just take a look at the history that Google Voice apps have had with the approval process.
Initially, Apple had approved one which obviously pleased iPhone owners. These smiles however were quickly turned into frowns when at a later date, Apple pulled the app citing duplicate features that are already available on the iPhone. This did not stop the development of Google Voice apps with developers taking another stab at the approval process and this time, we have some success to report, at least for now.
GV Connect by Andreas Amann is the first to officially go live in the app store, meaning that no jailbreak is required. The new application will sell for $2.99 and you’ll get such features as SMS text messaging, voicemail and of course the most important feature, Google Voice phone calls. Guess what, these were all the same features that resulted in these sorts of apps being banned in the first place.
There’s another voice app called GV Mobile that is still in a pending approval state with regards to the app store. Seeing GV Connect getting accepted should be a positive thing for GV Mobile, but then again, its Apple so you never know.
